Summer…Now What?

Summer is nearing soon. While we all rejoice at the additional seven hours in the day, what is to become of this blog? Our class’ edublogs were created to create an online journal of assignments and literary insights. I cannot speak for my classmates, but I am very satisfied with the results. However, with the end of school, the purpose sustaining this blog now becomes obselete, and a new one must be drafted. I intend to continue this blog, although I expect it to be challenging. My writing has always been crafted for prompts in other classes, and now it will be taking its own form/direction.

Generally a blog has a theme it revolves around. I believe the topic I will choose for now will be learnng – my learning. We are supposed to learn something everyday, and so writing about it for other people will both strengthen my foundations and aid those who read it.

It’s not the most interesting topic- to create a knowlege bank – but learning is my passion, and that is something to write about :-D .

Heroes

what, a hero?
an icon of people’s good
my father, an icon such

how, a hero?
any can be a hero to those that see
i merely see him better than others
many lessons of life originate from our roots
and i feel powerfully about the strength of mine

truely, a hero?
those helping many, true heroes of tera
they protectors of hope, vangaurds of justice
tending to our dreams with their beating core
but underneath all that fame and glittery light
a hero lives as a heroes heart does in hindsight

Human. A hero

A Panda in the Wild

I’m not sure if it’s just how I naturally am, but the Panda Bear seems to be cute. Just a little.

Now ignoring that my masculine pride is forever scarred, I’ll have to say that Panda’s are one of my favorite animals. They’re basically teddy bears, but without the I-am-a-viscous-carnivore-that-can-eat-you kind of feel.

Really, who could resist that?

An old friend of mine who used to live in China once talked about how Panda’s would come down the mountains for a drink of water. They would gorge themselves and get “drunk” from too much water. Queue a sleeping, live, Panda for seeing up close. The local zoo has nothing compared to a real animal in its natural home.

Earth Day

April 22. A day to embrace the hip-ness of “reduce, reuse, recycle.” Supported by many and hated by others, its an interesting concept.

Frankly I don’t care.

The Problem with Earth Day

Earth day is a singular day where people all think about how good it is to be green, and worry their little heads over global warming. Twenty-four hours later, life goes on as normal, and there is rarely any significant impact…

Can you see why I dislike it so?

Any person who truely cares about environmentalism or “taking care of our planet,” does not need the fanfare of a celibrated day and cute little flags to keep them going. They will go on their chosen path with sweat and blood regardless.

What Earth day does, however, is it lets the whole nation get away with saying “I believe”.

Yes, we all believe. We buy those dainty little CFL’s and sit on our haunches, waiting for someone to fix the problem(s) for us. Earth Day acts as a “guilt-sink” that allows believer’s to feel complacent.

That or you just don’t care…

The Global Warming debacle

There have been few things that I have seen in my 16 years of living that matches the conglomerate mess of “Global Warming”

Simply:
*C02 is the enemy!
*CFL’s are uber-good!
*Al Gore is the almighty! (okay thats a pot-shot…)

…A vast simplification. It show’s how little I know about global warming. And yet, I can work myself into a political fervor, screaming my rightousness to all that can hear. I’ve seen it done.

Obviously I am misinformed at some level, and I believe that most of my peers share this fault. This is propagated further by the lack of primary sources (no I do not consider Al Gore a primary source), and the massive sharing of “credible” advice.

The human mind is amazing at simplifying complex ideas into workable chunks, but global warming has been over-simplified. Diluted into an unintelligible muck beyond use.

Shedding the Unimportant
Overall, my objection on this subject is the global allowance of the half-ass. Everyone has something to say, commands about what should be done, and an amazing ability to do nothing at the same time.

The people who care, speak it with their actions. Those that believe, move with their hearts. And everyone who truely represents Earth Day, already lives it.

Let’s not get in their way, shall we?

You can say that you believe in Earth Day, but I question how far that belief will take you.

Back To School…

Another term, another trimester of literature…

Phew, Winter-term has just finished and I can finally relax from final’s for a moment. Blogging again after a decent hiatus is a bit awkward, but I’m sure things will run smoothly nevertheless.

My schedules definitely a lot lighter this term:

  1. Spanish 2
  2. Literature Honers 10
  3. Sociology
  4. AP Biology
  5. Chemistry

No more math class!!! Woot! :D

GAME SET!

“Dang it, that cannon has failed me too many times,” I fumed. “It was so close! An inch! No, not even an inch!”

My brother just looked at me and grinned manically, “Mwahahaha! The sword is always stronger.”

I just gave him another ‘death glare‘.

“Let’s try that again, and we’ll see.”

And there was much rejoicing in the world.

“DIE! DIE! DIE!”

Then again, maybe not.
